Aedes aegypti behaves differently from the native Culex tarsalis mosquitoes most Rocklin residents know. Culex tarsalis, the primary carrier of West Nile virus in California, peaks at dusk and dawn. Aedes aegypti bites aggressively throughout the day: mid-morning, late afternoon, whenever people are most likely to be outside.
